I could do without the 80s hair, but Weeki Wachee is da bomb.
Our destination must be within a two day all-out drive with no stops other than for gas, or to flop for the night, clean, have a free breakfast bar, and it must accept pets. There are bazillions of places that do most of those. Free wi-fi, and breakfast comes with it; that’s standard. I have no issue with forking over another $20 per night to also house our boy (pet fee). We always bring his crate, and if he doesn’t love it, he pretends to. He sleeps in at home, and even puts himself to bed there, without enticement.
This could cover almost anywhere in the U.S., with the exception of the West Coast.
If we’re only gone for 2-3 days, our cats won’t need to be boarded. Enough food, water, and clean litter, and they’ll be fine. Dogs don’t work that way.
Not sure where I’m taking my vacation this year. We used to go to the Eagle River area of Wisconsin, but decided to do something different this year instead.
We finally decided on a destination within a few hours drive. Although it could be done as a day trip, we’d be knackered by the time we got home, if we didn’t spend the night. I’d rather not have to ask “Are we still in Ohio?” as we switch drivers at some truck stop long after sundown.
We’ve got an Eastern Caribbean cruise planned between Christmas & New Years to celebrate my father-in-law’s 80th birthday. And my folks have asked of we’d like to go with them on a two week cruise down the Danube River from Vienna to the Black Sea next year, in October. I should be retired by then, so if we can afford it, there’s no reason I couldn’t go. And I’m only retiring because we’ll be able to afford it, so it’s looking good.
