We have tix to see him later this month. He’s got four things going for him: he’s got a Texan sense of humor, he probably can’t find an instrument he can’t figure out how to play, he pays tribute to his brother every time he gets on stage, and he’s one helluva musician in his own right. The tix were on the expensive side of what we’re willing to pay, but there’s no such thing as a bad seat in the entire venue.
To get a clue who this guy is, if you don’t already know, this is a good video, from last May. It’s an interview. If you want to hear his music, some of it’s available on YouTube.
So, yes, I have a thing for old rockers.
I remember when Johnny and Edgar Winter made the scene. Saw Johnny Winter at a theater and later at a street event back in the 1990s.
It seems wherever Johnny played someone would request “Frankenstein” Edgar’s signature song. and Johnny would answer “Wrong brother”.
Oh god, that’s funny.
Also, I’m in total awe.
Ah, Edgar and his brother Johnny are among my greatest musical loves, and there isn’t a day where I don’t miss dear Johnny… RIP 🙁 I am so thrilled for you that you’ve got tix to see Edgar… I’ve got so many happy memories of fun road trips with “Free Ride” blaring away on the car stereo! 🙂
Have a great time! 🙂
