I don’t know whether the Orvis outlet is gone, or moved into another storefront. Whatever. The Coach outlet is still right where it’s been for ages. So, I got a brown belt for my s.o. for $49, instead of $150, so he doesn’t have to wear his black dress one. He picked it out. I also picked up a new handbag in navy pebbled leather for $159 instead of $395. No fokkin’ way would I ever have bought either of these two items at anywhere near full price.
I have several old classic Coach leather shoulder bags, and have had them for 40+ years, but they’re smooth leather, and I’m reluctant to scuff them up, even though shoe polish gets them looking good again. This one is different — drag it through the mud, run it over, and dust it off to see another day. It’s so much nicer looking than my leather field bag from Duluth Trading, which is pretty indestructable, too.
Next up, house closing. The Matthew Sweet concert was great. We’ll be seeing Wishbone Ash next week. This has been one heckuva good week.
Just letting you guys know the recent flooding in my part of Iowa didn’t affect me. One of the parks in town was under water for a time, but most if the flooding was in towns all around mine. Sheffield, Mason City, Greene, Clarksville all got hit pretty hard.
Glad to hear you’re fine, Mel!
Congrats on the upcoming closing! Perfect weather to be moving soon too. Not too hot. Handbag sounds great. I love the pebbled look, very classic and timeless.
Mom was funny about the new Coach bag. She was all “Oh, you have to use that special Coach leather cleaner on it, and the special moisturizer that keeps the leather supple.” I replied “If it needs cleaning, saddle soap will do, and if it does get scratched up, navy shoe polish will work just fine. Besides, it’s not so easy to scuff up pebbled leather.” She liked the bag, but was horrified that I would use age-old methods to take care of it. Retail sales people see her coming a mile away. They can sell her a 3 oz. bottle of “special” stuff for $20, when Jergens lotion would work just as well.
