I have a love/hate relationship with Verizon. When we moved, I asked them to switch our existing service from our old house to our new one. At first, I was told I had to order all new STBs and a Gateway router. Bullshit. We took our old equipment with us, and it works fine. Self-install only didn’t initially work because the previous owners ripped out the box in the basement that connects the house with the service, so I didn’t get charged extra for the tech visit to fix that problem.
But, the billing issues with equipment continue. I get emails that say they received equipment I never sent back, but I got billed for that Gateway router we never ordered, nor received. Called to dispute the bill over the router, and was told I’d be credited for that charge, plus shipping for it. Okay, but the next email I received told me I’d been credited for slightly less than the shipping charges for something I never ordered, nor received. Um, what?
Today, I received a stock email from Verizon telling me how sorry they were to see me cancel my service. Um, once again … WHAT?
What that really means is that I didn’t drive 30 miles into the middle of a city I’d rather avoid at all costs to pick up some equipment I never ordered. How this will affect my next bill remains to be seen. I paid what was owed, according to the woman in billing (which, minus the bogus charges, seems correct) — but not what still shows up on my bill.
I love FiOS, because it never goes out unless the power does, but I hate dealing with Verizon on the phone. It’s better than online, but not much. No, nobody there is rude, but they’re octopus-like. It’s worse than a matter of the left hand vs. right hand. Cripes.
It’s probably going to take the next two months to sort out the billing with them — at their end. In the meantime, I pay what I believe they are owed. Let’s see if that works out. If the credits I was promised catch up with my billing, I’ll be fine. If they don’t, I’ll be on the horn with them again.
Verizon, I love your servive, and I hate your billing screw-ups.
Same here. I love FIOS, but Verizon is a mess .
