I love this station when it does its A to Z programming this time of year.  They start alphabetically with song titles, and if they’re getting a bit hard pressed to find enough for any particular letter, they’ll go with the artist’s name.  During the past four days, they’ve only broadcast a handful of songs that I thought were total crap.  For example, I woke up yesterday to Carole King singing “It’s too Late.”  Blecch!  Also, there was a k.d. laing song that she supposedly wrote as a soundtrack for “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.”  It was nothing more than her talking over a bass background that sounded like something that could have come from pushing a button on an electronic keyboard.

OTOH, it’s played some really good songs, including ones from well known artists, in which I recognized the singer’s voice, but not the song itself:  Joe Walsh, Warren Zevon, Johnny Cash, etc.  I knew the voice, but not the song.  I’d estimate that 98% of the songs I’m familiar enough with to sing along — if I had a vocal range outside of ribbit to croak.

We’re still on the L’s, so there’s a long way to go until they get to the Z’s.  Right now:  “Long May You Run.”  Good stuff!
