Months after Daggy announced his triumphant resurrection, he finally posted something new on his WordPress. It’s part 8 of a vampire work in progress.
I couldn’t bring myself to do any more than skim the first few hundred words. It seemed a bit corny to me.
It fails to make any sense and he missed on the period dialog. For one thing, a black man of the period would not use the term octoroon or mullato. Those were white man’s words for them.
Good lord. Nick goes MIA, Boyer bursts like a boil, and suddenly Dagswine is making a cameo — anyone else beginning to wonder if they are all one person?
…sure would save on bullets. Just sayin’.
I just noticed in his tags that for once he didn’t put in 400 publishing credits like he usually does. Hmmm…
“Lawrence Dagstine is a freelance writer of fiction and non-fiction whose byline has appeared in hundreds of print magazines, anthologies, and webzines viewed all over the globe. Roughly 400 times.”
Roughly! How interesting a word that is right there. 😀
Viewed roughly 400 times, perhaps?
We already know he claims every reprint as a credit, so my 400 page views theory makes a whole lot of sense.
since when was 6 roughly 400?
If you phrase it that it was between three and four hundred times then you wouldn’t be lying if the real number was 6…
It’s his usual sub-par writing, showing he’s done no research (again), and may also reveal his racist side a little. He seems to think a normal person isn’t going to be freaked out by the sudden presence of a vampire – who can’t seem to keep her identity secret. I also wonder if Dagswine thinks the Underground Railroad was a literal railway…
That’s a good point, Mike. It’s clear that he has no idea whatsoever about that era.
I can be lazy about research sometimes, but damn I at least put some effort into getting my facts straight.
His best fiction to date is the story of the failed writer who faked cancer and a suicide attempt to distract the world from his psychotic behavior.
Ironically, that was an attempt to slam a writer he has frequently mistreated over the years by the name of Carmello Raffala. Instead, what came out was Daggy depicting his own future actions.
What? I was being sarcastic… He really wrote about that first? Did the character also beat his wife?
Yes, Angry. The character beat his wife. We never saw that on screen, it was mentioned is all.
It was written about six months before Daggy’s little “I’m dead” gag.

Ah yes… the short story where the Mary Sue was aroused by his teenage daughter, and “letting go” of a trigger causes a gun to fire.
I bet that was part of why he lost custody of his son.
Wow, Rusty! Time has flown. I had no idea it was over a year ago
I probably wouldn’t have found it if you hadn’t mentioned that it was posted about six months before he faked his death. That told me where to start looking in his archives.
I’ll grant you it is hard to believe that it’s been 51 weeks since Daggy faked his own death and went into hiding.
For a moment I was left wondering why Dagswine chose chapter eight for his “excerpt.” Most real writers usually go with something that has a hook to get the readers’ attention, like the first chapter. But then I realize this is Larry the Loser we’re talking about and his knowledge of the craft exceeds La Dumb Nikita’s by… oh… one picogram of brain cells. And that’s a generous estimate.
Has it occurred to you, Mike, that the first 7 chapters might not exist and he’s trying to make it look like he is actually well into the writing of his novel?
Oddly enough, that occurred to me too. He’s lied about “projects” he’s had in the past…
I’ll be buggered if I’m going to try and slog through that crap tonight but I thought you might be amused to know that the image in that blogpost is a piece of artwork used in the cover for issue 2 of American Vampire.

So Daggy is back to swiping artwork again.
Of course!
I wonder if that’s not all he stole…
I scanned the post and aside from both featuring vampires in America there’s little relation. Admittedly I’ve only read the first few issues but the story begins in silent era Hollywood with the odd flashback to how a vicious outlaw became the American Vampire, a more durable mutation of the European strain that infected him.
Stephen King also contributed a back story for the first five issues.
OT but I head on vacation Friday, and I’ll be gone til the 25th! I’ll be too busy boating, fishing, tubing, swimming, and eating to get online. =) If you all were in the northwoods of Wisconsin I’d invite you to the BBQ we’re having next week!
Nice. Have a fantastic time!
Hope you have a great time, Mel.
Have fun Melany!
I hope someone is taking screenshots of Brainless Boyer’s continuing attack on Ramsey over at shocklines – I’m sure anyone considering submitting to any of his rags would like to know the character of the person with whom they will be dealing!
I have one word for Dag-shit’s return to fiction—FAIL.
