Apropos of nothing Nitwit-related, WordPress released version 2.6.1 today. For those of you who have WP blogs hosted at WP, the upgrade was automatic. It only matters for those of us who also have WP blogs hosted elsewhere, as I do.
There are also a bunch of new themes that were released, several of which are quite visually appealing, but for one reason or another, didn’t do it for me. One, however, really fit the bill: Atahualpa2. I demoed it, then decided to download it. It’s got fluid width, the option of two or three columns, all sorts of header banner options, automatic footer copyright updating, etc. Sure, you can tinker with the CSS file, but most of that can be done in the theme options page.
While I’m quite comfortable with configuring and using FTP utilites and maintaining my own domains’ websites, it can be a bit time consuming. I probably spent a couple of hours this evening on maintenance for a couple of domains. Granted, part of that was spent checking out new WP themes.
Anyway, I just wanted to let people know, in case they do their own web maintenance, and use WordPress on their sites.
