Iron Dave is rusting fast. I checked the thread at Shocklines, and it seems to have taken on a new life.
Keep your eye on Rick Moore’s blog. Since he has a personal stake in Iron Dave’s shenanigans, he’s keeping better track of it than I am. Here’s a snippet from a comment I particularly like from Mike Wilkerson:
In hind site, this guy always seemed a little suspicious: always sending me updates saying he’d changed his email. The site going down due to a serious illness. His amazing bio, even though nobody’d ever heard of him. What a douche.
I’ve pointed out more than once how Iron Dave keeps changing his email address, faking serious illnesses, etc., and how suspicious it all sounded. It’s good to know I’m not the only person who thought that. There are only so many times a person can pretend to have gotten hacked before people stop believing it.
Not only are magazine editors onto him, but also places like Ralan and Duotrope, and sales outlets are removing his listings. Booksie, Amazon, PublishAmerica, iUniverse, and Lulu, have either pulled his stuff, or are investigating.
You know it’s bad when Publish America is pulling you of the shelf.
What??? PublishAmerica possibly doing something ethical? Are pigs flying? Are the denizens of Hell having a sledding party? Is Kirstie Alley singing an aria? …OK, I’m out of cliches. Sorry. 🙂
The public outcry going on right now is increasing the visibility of Boyer’s sins. None of the sleazy companies want to find themselves named in a class action legal suit (or a single action) any more than the majors would.
I sent in a story collection to this guy not two days before this came to light. I really hope these legal actions discourage him from stealing my work as well. Probably not knowing my luck.
I don’t know about Lulu pulling anything – I just checked, and not only is he still there, but my name is connected with his books.
Lovely.
Link me. I’m going to beat the bloody hell out of the sodding arse.

ignore that. Its not a direct link
The more we search, the uglier it gets. Some of what Jane and I have found dates back to 2007
He’s apparently been attaching Jane Baxter’s name to his own fiction since 2007
http://dogzplot.blogspot.com/2007/12/insideout-david-byron-and-jane-timm.html
He must think this gives me some cachet. But it has to stop.
Typos aplenty there.
He attached Jane’s name as co-author on his own fiction. And that last line should have been:
He must think this give HIM some cachet.
I’m genuinely surprised that thread on SL hasn’t vanished. If it were Dagswine or Peaches doing this, it’d be gone.
It’d be gone because Dagswine or Peaches would whine to Matty to have him remove the thread. Iron Dave’s m.o. on Shocklines is more of a drive-by. I think he seldom bothers to keep coming back to see the replies once he’s posted a submission call, and it’s not as if he ever participates in other discussions. I think he replied once, on the first or second page, and then he went away.
The proof just keeps piling up against Davey the Thief. Ferrel has a copy of a contract from 2007 where it is signed by David Boyer, pen name David Byron, claiming Ferrel’s “Electrocuting the Clowns” is his original story and never been published. I guess Davey doesn’t do research, or he would have known that the story was published in 2003 in the anthology “Beyond The Porch Light.”
I absolutely love this posting!!
By the way, Piker Press just sent me a copy of the contract they signed with David Boyer/ David Byron, so I have it in writing where he claims he is the author of my copyrighted story.
So, hat’s off to the professionals at Piker Press for helping straighten this guy out.

My warning post is up on the company website now. I’m going to kick him in the nuts.
Stephen Blundell’s blog chronicles a long list of emails between him and Iron Dave. It’s fascinating reading.
Sounds a bit like Daggy. Could they be related?
The internet writing communities are filled with bozos like them. Unfortunately they are not funny — except in the uncle category.
Lulu has notified me that they have removed the book.
More coming up on my blog tonight or tomorrow morning. “Iron” Dave is now melting.
check your inbox, Rick. I sent you a bcc of the email I sent to Mr. Bogus
Has anyone determined if the story by Byron in Atrium Tempestas is a stolen one?
Not to change the subject, but is this guy a nitwit or just another failed publisher looking to place blame elsewhere?

The whole thing with KWP and “Zach Powell” strikes me as odd.
Going only by those two threads, I’d guess just another failed publisher, but I could be wrong.
Zach Powell does not seem to exist except for his connection to that collection.
I’m looking into it further.
Okay, based on internal evidence, I would say that Paul = Zach.
Also, I have a zero-tolerance policy toward people who fake illness ad nauseam.
If Paul = Zach, then it would point to Nitwit, of the evil, calculating, Iron Dave variety. Faked illness pretty well seals the deal.
Anyone have further info on this Zach/Paul guy? Is this worth its own new topic?
Ferrel Rick Moore
I’m trying to get my hands on a copy of the story called “The First Cut is the Deepest” that Boyer/Byron says was nominated or recommended for a Stoker to see if that is plagiarized, too, but I haven’t found what anthology or book it’s in.
Can anyone help?
Well not sure how useful this is but Google turned up this link, http://irondavefiction49.webs.com/freestories.htm and about half way down the page is a story titled “The First Cut is the Deepest”. After Googling the first sentence it appears he also featured it in his anthology “The Flesh Once Removed” as “The Sweet Spot”.
Oh and I almost forgot to say that the entire anthology is available on this website if you want to compare any of the other stories in it.

Thanks Lewis! You guys are great. Now, it’s time Iron Dave got a nail job.
Speaking of nitwits… another wall of text by Nicky just now. Lots of Ray Garton and Tim Leider in todays throw-up.
The moron doesn’t know the difference between leeway and headway. And that’s only sentence #1. No telling what other foolishness lies deeper into the post. *Holds nose and plunges in*
Ha! Nicky posted on the very Shocklines thread that’s 7 pages long about this, and he’s saying he’s got something for the magazine!
After all the talk about pirates over the years…
That lulz is GOLDEN!
http://shocklinesforum.yuku.com/topic/16113?page=6
Hhahahahaaaa!!
Oh wouldn’t it be wonderful if Nicky subbed to Dave and then Dave plagarised Nicky?
They could fight each other via aliases – I think Jason Trotter would lose to Leo Wolfe, but Lloyd Campbell is such a badass he’d beat any of the others.
“A day late and a dollar short” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Comedy platinum from Nickolaus, as always.
More proof (as if we needed any) that Nikki does not understand what he reads.
Wait a sec. Didn’t Nicky publish “Electrocuting the Clowns” in “A Library of Unknown Horrors”? By David “Doc” Byron, no less?
Why, yes, I think he did: http://www.lulu.com/product/hardcover/a-library-of-unknown-horrors/4834605
Matt has gotten out the snippers again. The thread is vanishing.
I wouldn’t mind if Matt’d axe Nickys posts also in the process but doing it this way… it’s rather like he’s begging for attention too.
As a blog-friend of Rick’s, I appreciate you keeping a spotlight on this issue. I’m sure he can use all the help he can get!
His plagiarism is officially out of A Library Of Unknown Horrors and five more writers are coming in on the reboot of the book. The tradepaperback versions didn’t have the ISBN on the book. The hardcover version did. You fucks can go to hell about giving me all the flack about publishing a plagiarist. I had to go through a lot of trouble to re-edit the book and it’s close to being republished with the new line up and the public domain stories just added to the thing.
I am trying to figure out if he plagiarized Blood Ties too in my magazine. That was what the rant was about you bearded fatass. Lloyd Phillip Campbell is my pen name and my pen name only. So Boyer didn’t use that one. I will be writing as Lloyd for the namesake too. Thinking of a good plot really to fuck with Boyer. This will be perfect one for Lloyd to fuck with.
Honey, this thread died three weeks ago. And, before you condemn me or anyone else for being a “bearded fatass,” you might want to pick something that doesn’t apply to yourself.
Why are you hitting all these old threads? The one you left a comment on at my blog was nearly a year old.
I may have missed it if it’s been mentioned on any of these threads but Nick is at it again, here. http://shocklinesforum.yuku.com/topic/16592/t/Repost–anthology-submission–Lake-Fossil-Press-4theluv-2.html
