Peaches posted another Blogspot entry about PublishAmerica accepting GAME OVER. If they completely fuck up the text, he wouldn’t know the difference. If they don’t let him have a cover he deems appropriate, and use his unreadable fonts, he’ll get “tone letters” in short order.
More interesting to me are the embedded revelations about Nicky’s love life.
. . . the rant is pointed at Keene and some cyber-bunny boiler who is stalking me on craigslist.org making claims that I dated her and pounded on her door when I had not had dated in a while. I didn’t even have a date in 2010 so the person slandered me right there.
It’s been a lot longer than that since he’s had a date — more like 10-15 years.
I was supposed to have one date in January but it fell through.
Like they all do. The other parties never thought they were supposed to be “dates.” Tiffany thought she was going to get a chance to meet him at GothicFest 2007, after he published one of her stories. He thought she was his date for the weekend. She met him, and he gave her the creeps.
He’s put two personal ads up on Craigslist. His first one was titled “Looking For My Dying Bride – 35 (Joliet, Illinois).” It was posted on Oct. 28. The contents were hilariously covered over at Brian Keene’s blog. He titled the second one the same thing, and posted it on Halloween. Both appear to have been removed after being flagged.
About the time that he was first active in the Goth community, he tried to force an attractive young woman in the Chicago area into becoming his “protege.” When she refused, he visited her home and threatened her child, a young boy. She got a restraining order on him and he still showed up on her doorstep.
When she had had enough, she moved to another state and fell off his radar, only to return to the net under an alias and go after him.
I’ve heard that story before. I think I even know who it is you’re talking about. That’s why the gist of the Craigslist warning under rants&raves rang so true, even though the details are a bit different.
That’s he’s with Publish America – a vanity press that has been discredited multiple times – is just too delicious. You know he’s going to burn through money to get as many frills as he can…
PA’s whole business model is to soak as much as possible out of the authors, their friends, and family. Nicky thinks he can sell the 5000 copies necessary to graduate from an 8% royalty to a 50% one. Fat fucking chance. He couldn’t even sell that many in e-book format, which, unless PA has changed its policy, it doesn’t produce.
I think PA does claim to convert books into Kindle and Nook formats…for something like $79.99 a pop.
That must be a relatively new service, but I suppose they don’t care whether they sell any, as long as the author coughs up an exhorbitant fee upfront.
Bingo. And I think the ebooks are priced really high on Amazon.
It will be interesting to see how Nicky and PA get along with each other. I seriously doubt they’re going to let him format the book (like he says in his blog post that he wants to do). OTOH, he doesn’t have to worry about them changing the text any.
In fact, they seem not to deliver even on that overpriced “service” per the complaints on their message board (which get cornfielded almost immediately, but the good people at Absolute Write keep track).
Why is he switching from Lulu to PublishAmerica? Both are vanity/self publishing outfits, or at least used for such in the case of Lulu. I don’t get why he’s even considering it? It’s not like it’s going to help him sell more books or gain credibility.
I think he’s just thrilled that someone other than himself is willing to publish his garbage, as though it counts as a legitimate credit. It can’t possibly turn out any worse than something he’d upload to Lulu, anyway.
Nicky’s really losing it going from living in the 90 to the 80s. Who the hell calls stalkers bunny boilers?
Especially when he’s the one doing the stalking and raging, while the women are doing the rejecting. Then again, he has a horrible habit of projecting his behavior and thoughts onto others.
And of course it’s OUR fault he can’t get a date. Because no woman with half a brain in this day and age won’t google his name. A 5 second google search would show them all his insane rantings and videos showing just how much he hates women.
Not to mention how slovenly his personal appearance is.
Absolute Write is the place to go for Publish America horror stories.
In reality, PublishAmerica doesn’t even read the submissions they receive and they will publish anything sent their way if they believe an author/his family will shell out money to pay for copies of the book
He does that anyway. My impression, rightly or wrongly, is that he gives away copies of his books to other family members as presents. They won’t be much of a source of sales, if any — not directly.
Has anyone contacted the E.A. Poe museum and warned them about how the person they are letting speak goes off on outrageous tirades against homosexuality and threatens rape and murder on people? Assuming they are really letting him speak in the first place, of course. I’d think they would be quite embarrassed if they found that out after the fact.
They’d probably be clueless, unless Nicky went off on someone who asked him what he thought of Anne Rice’s or Brian Keene’s work.
It might be more prudent to point the curator to Nicky’s Blurty, InsaneJournal, and Blogspot, with a word of warning to be prepared for potential “incidents” involving their “special guest author/speaker.” It probably wouldn’t hurt to mention his ED page, too.
People tend to look down on ED since it is rather trollastic, Fandom Wank might be a better option.

LOL! Scroll down to near the bottom to where Nicky’s blog entry is linked to. I think they’ve got Nicky’s number.
Look for post #4240 and the ones following.
Jim Macdonald’s had Nicky’s number for years.
“…it looks like a Hindenberg in the making.”
LMFAO best quote yet.
Baup, I sent you an invite to the Lovecraft cult. Now that Nicky has been banned, we can actually talk about the work we like to read.
Nicky is back on AC and libeling folks
