Finally, we met with our realtor again, with completed paperwork in hand, to go over it, make sure it was in order, agree on an asking price, and get the ball rolling on putting it on the market. She and I were completely on the same page. She’d already been given a tour of the place a couple of weeks ago. It’s in a great neighborhood, a really good school district, etc., and our asking price is right in line with what others have asked, and gotten for their properties.
Right after New Year’s is not the best time of year to put a property on the market, but some people are looking, and a lot more start looking in February or March. As long as it’s not overpriced, people will ask for showings, to give it a look-see. Our realtor has been doing this for 30+ years, and it’s not our first rodeo, either. All parties involved know how this game is played.
This is big relief. It’s not completely out of our hands now, but other than things like checking in ourselves to make sure the heat’s still on, the toilets get flushed every so often, and I wipe up any muddy tracks people leave, it’s mostly on our realtor to market it.
