There’s nothing unusual about Lorenzo pimping his stuff, nor about his enthusiasm for e-publishing, but this is rather amusing. His latest blog entry is about his story collection coming out in electronic format.
You can get it from one of the largest RPG retailers on the Web. DriveThruRPG.com! Or, for just a few dollars more, you can splurge for the print copy and see what all of last summer’s buzz was about.
Since Larry publicly admitted, perhaps a couple of months ago, that his collection didn’t sell well, I think that buzz of his might have been from something illegal.
Didn’t he diss 50 Foot Ant for writing RPGs? Somebody did; maybe it was Pacione. Either way, the person who did the dissing sounded jealous of the money to be made doing quality RPGs. If you stop to think about it, a place that offers RPGs for sale is perfect for Lorenzo. After all, he plays the role of author on TV the internet.
Lorenzo also posted about it on SL. There are no replies so far.
I’m pretty sure they both did, though I can’t remember if Larry attempted any other disses than the weak one in his Runaway Hack story.
No, he did diss the Ant for writing in the RPG market. Then he turned around and tried to fish for info on writing for the RPG market in SL. Ant laid out the facts and Dumbstine never responded.
Question: Where did he admit “Fresh Blood” didn’t sell very well?
He definitely dissed Ant for writing in the RPG marrket. He tried to belittle him all the way to hell and back. But Daggy got his comeuppance.
I’m not sure if this is what Rusty was talking about but in his Christmas update he did say, “realized that, money-wise, it doesn’t pay to release a second short story collection” which does kind of imply that he didn’t make much money off of his first.
I think it was in the Christmas update that Lewis mentioned. Thanks, Lewis.
Also, thanks to the others who backed up my hazy memory of Daggy sniping at Ant. Too funny that he was fishing around on SL for how to do it. 😀
I’m quite sure Samsdot never recouped the cost, so Larry most likely saw near-zero royalties.
Since Samsdot do not give advances, Larry made exactly that–near-zero. He might as well have self-published it.
I also like the way Daggy tries to pimp his shit at the TTA forums–and no one respondes.
Believe me when I say, they’ve got his number over there (1-800-Blow-Hard) and they ain’t playing ball.
